    Platteville, Wis-The top two defensive men’s basketball teams in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will battle it out on Bo Ryan Court Wednesday, Jan 15, as the # 7 ranked University of Wisconsin-Platteville (13-1, 3-0) welcome UW-Stevens Point (10-4, 2-1) at 7 p.m. for community night.

  • Pioneers take second place at Central College Invite
    January 11, 2020
    PELLA, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team (3-1, 2-1 WIAC) finished second of 12 teams Saturday at the Central College Invite. The Pioneers combined for a team score of 101.0 points and were only outscored by Central College which led with 112.0 team points. Overall, UW-Platteville claimed one title and thirteen top-five finishes in the tournament.

    Platteville, Wis- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s basketball team (11-1, 1-0) travels to UW Oshkosh to battle the defending national champion Titans (7-5, 1-0) in an early Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) match-up pitting the two pre-season favorites. The Pioneers are currently ranked #9 in the latest d3hoops.com poll.
  • Pioneers take down Blugolds

    PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team (3-1, 2-1 WIAC) defeated UW-Eau Claire (6-2, 2-2 WIAC) 24-20 Tuesday night in Williams Fieldhouse. After trailing 20-12, the Pioneers won the final three bouts of the match and secured the conference victory when the outcome of the night came down to the final two wrestlers at 285 pounds.
  • Pioneers look to finish 2019 strong

    Platteville, Wis- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s basketball team will return to action on Dec. 11 as it plays host Ripon College at Bo Ryan Court for a 6 p.m. tip. The women are ranked #17 in the latest d3hoops.com with a 5-1 record.

    MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team competed at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) Invite Saturday where nine Pioneers placed, and six wrestlers finished in the top three. Sophomore Alexander Strueder (157 pounds) and freshman Nathan Wynsma (165 pounds) both won their championship bouts to secure the two first place finishes for UW-Platteville.
  • Pioneers take down Pointers, Headlocking Hunger secures over 4,000 pounds for local food pantry

    PLATTEVILLE, WIS. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team (2-1, 1-1 WIAC) defeated the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (5-2, 0-2 WIAC) Wednesday night in the fifth annual Headlocking Hunger dual in Williams Fieldhouse. The wrestling team won the Headlocking Hunger championship belt while the different Pioneer teams brought in a combined total 4,115.9 pounds of non-perishable food items to be donated to the Pioneer Provisions food pantry on campus.
  • Headlock Hunger and staff appreciation night highlight week ahead for Pioneers

    The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team will be hosting its annual “Headlocking Hunger” match vs. UW-Stevens Point on Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. “Headlocking Hunger” is a collaborative effort among the Pioneer Athletic Department to collect food items in support of Pioneer Provisions, an on-campus food pantry for the students of UW-Platteville. Everyone who brings two non-perishable items will receive free admission to the match.

    MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team had 11 placewinners and five wrestlers finish in the top three of their weight classes at the Auggie-Adidas Invitational hosted by Augsburg University at Si Melby Hall.

    WHITEWATER, WIS. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team (1-1 overall, 0-1 WIAC) fell 27-16 to No. 6 ranked UW-Whitewater (2-1 overall, 2-0 WIAC) Wednesday night in Russell Arena.
  • Pioneers enjoying the benefits of new Athletic Training Room

    Platteville, Wis.- In January of 2019 the University of Wisconsin-Platteville opened its doors to a state-of-the-art addition of Williams Fieldhouse. Inside the new addition are multi-purpose courts, a walking track, and a vary spacious weight and cardiovascular area. Right off the weight room though, is one the most important thing for the approximately 450 student-athletes, the new athletic training room.

  • Strueder and Katzenmeyer shine at Pioneers’ Super 8 Invite

    PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team hosted the 2019 Super 8 Inivite Saturday in Williams Fieldhouse. Sophomore Alexander Strueder claimed the 157-pound title while junior Chase Katzenmeyer took second place after advancing to the championship round at 141 pounds.

    The 2019-20 UW-Platteville Pioneer wrestling team will be anchored by 2019 NCAA national qualifier Lucius Rinehart (Jr. Evansville, Wisconsin). He returns after a successful 2018-19 season and is ranked among the nation’s best at heavyweight after finishing runner up at the WIAC and NCAA Upper Midwest Regional championships last season.
