Pioneers fall to undefeated Falcons

MEQUON, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team fell 1-0 in a closely contested contest Saturday against the Concordia University (Wis.) Falcons.

The Falcons (6-0-0) struck early over the Pioneers (2-1-1) when Concordia's Will King scored the game's lone goal in the 10th minute with a shot to the upper right corner from 25 yards out.  King's goal would end up being the game-winning goal.

Overall, the Pioneers and Falcons were evenly matched with 11 shots apiece. Freshman Jack Gentilli and junior Brendan Carr each recorded two shots on the night.

Senior Nate Miller recorded eight saves to his counterpart, Nate Yeager's six saves.

With the final 1-0 score, the Pioneers were the first team in the 2019 season to hold the Falcons to less than three goals in a game.

The Pioneers return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 18 when they host the Spartans of the University of Dubuque at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium at 7 p.m.
