OSHKOSH, Wis. -In the WIAC season opener the UW-Platteville Men's basketball team fell to UW-Oshkosh by a score of 96-70.
The Pioneers (7-5) fell behind 30-53 at halftime behind blistering shooting by the Oshkosh Titans. In the first half the Titans shot 64.5% from the field and 62.5% from the three-point line, all while holding the Pioneers to 33.3% shooting and 41.7% from three. For the game the Titans outrebounded, out shot and forced 14 Pioneer turnovers.
The Pioneers were led in scoring by senior Robert Duax and sophomore Quentin Shields who both scored 14 points but on a combined 7-27 shooting (25.9%). Junior Carter Voelker and freshmen Blake McCann both chipped in 10 points. The Titans had five guys score double figures with the leader scoring 27.
The Pioneers host UW-La Crosse on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. on Bo Ryan Court in Williams Fieldhouse.
